In this series called Awakening we have talked about the event that forever changed history. The Resurrection of Jesus and how that event not only changed history but is changing today.

We said the Resurrection has the power to change our lives here and now. We also said Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good he came to make dead people alive.

Once we wake up once we are alive for you the first time we something happens.

We realize that we may have wasted great portions of our life. That is a very painful place to be. That can be a very disturbing reality check… You see we don’t like to think about it but our time is short.

There’s a difference between being alive and being fully alive. It’s like having blinders on and not knowing it. How many of you have seen a horse with blinders over their eyes? Horses have peripheral vision, which means they can end up running off course unless they are made to remain focused. Blinders help horses , but they are not so good for you and me. We need to be able to see clearly and have the full perspective in view to make wise choices in our lives, in our relationships, in our finances, in our everyday living.
But we cannot do that if we only see part of the picture.. So many of us are walking around with blinders on and we don’t even know it.

I want to be very specific , today i am going to talk to you about the most important event in history. An event that changed the world and is changing the world as we speak. This event has the power to change all our lives forever. It can cause us to be awake for the very first time.

Jeff Burkhimer – Invitation

I think that many of us can agree that church can be a very difficult invitation to make. We’re not sure what our friends will encounter when they come to church. There are a lot of people who are very interested in God, but the church thing scares them off. The obstacle for a lot of people is the church. They want to know God, but the whole church thing scares them off. And the irony is that church, without anybody ever meaning it, becomes an obstacle to people who want to establish a relationship with Jesus Christ, rather than a help. We don’t intend it, and sometimes we don’t even know it, but church can be a scary place for people who aren’t already part of that church.

One of the hardest things in the world is to ask for help. we want to believe the myth that we are self sufficient, self reliant and that we can do it ourselves.

All of us Need Help. We just don’t want to admit it. We either don’t want to slow down, don’t want to share because we are embarrassed about what we are facing. When we are broken, when life or something takes us places we didn’t really want to go then we are beyond our ability to handle what is happening around us.

This week we will understand where to look for the help we need.

Like it or not society places labels on people.  Whats worse is that sometimes we buy into the labels and we start to live in accordance with what those labels suggest. Its as if those labels become an identity…and we embrace the label.  Some of those labels can destroy a person.  Sometimes they are just annoying. How do we overcome those labels? Whose opinion really matters? Join us today as we seek to answer those questions.
