Times have always been perilous, but I am convinced that this is The Perilous Times.

The Word of God teaches us that in the “last days perilous times shall come.” I stand before you today to proclaim that never before in the history of man has such potential existed for our own destruction. Hydrogen bombs are so powerful that they require an atomic bomb to detonate them! Scientists claim that if a large hydrogen bomb ever exploded in our earth’s atmosphere, the shock waive could cause an imbalance, which would bring civilization, as we know it, to a standstill.

We have never seen a time quite like this.

Prominent intellectuals and their equally prominent fellow travelers in the media teach that every value and every culture are equally valid. And the result is the secular media has become open “despises of those that are good, ” constantly showing Christianity in a negative light and refusing to depict any Christian as intelligent, warm, considerate, or loving.

America was founded on a strong belief in the guiding hand of God, yet that belief is being pushed aside by those who have a religion of selfinterest and selfindulgence. The message of the last decade in America has been “do your own thing” and “just be happy,” yet we suddenly have awakened to a nation where prayer is yanked out of schools, nativity scenes are forbidden in our parks, and songs about Jesus cannot be sung at any public school Christmas celebration.

Child of God, if we are going to be the Church in the Last Days, we must have a hope beyond the scope of human limitation! But, listen to me today, we are never going to experience that hope as long as we are content to look, and to live, in the natural all the time and live the Christian life according to our feelings.

I love the 80s : taking a look at “Great Truths from a Great Decade!”

How many of you remember the series from the 80’s called UNPlugged? It was on a network called MTV..Do you remember when MTV actually showed music videos? OK I know I sound like an old guy right…??

Seriously I remember during the 80’s when MTV was awesome and we could watch our favorite bands lip sync their songs to bad choreography…parachute pants and all that..

All the bands and all the glitz, hairspray and lights and amplifiers, the crowds the sound.. The glamour and what came at the end of all this was a new idea.

But fast forward to the end of the 80’s and we were introduced to a brand new idea.. UNplug the instruments, use only acoustic instruments with no amplifiers. It was stripped down, simple and just amazing..

The whole idea was Less is More and that is so true… That philosophy is very helpful particularly in our society… Think about it , we have never been more PLUGGED IN, more CONNECTED even on a Global Level. Social Media has us connected all of us to every area of our life… And that is NOT a bad thing..

This week learn how to get unplugged, so that you can focus on the things that matter most.

The Game is Never Over When You Are Playing With the God of Another Chance

Imagine yourself competing in a Championship baseball game. It is the final game of the play-offs, and your team is behind by one run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. The fans cheer excitedly while you step into the batter’s box. With all of the determination and purpose you can muster, you concentrate on the pitcher and what kind of pitch he is throwing.

Suddenly, you see his arm in motion, and in an instant you swing the bat, you feel the contact, and you know that you might have the distance. But as you make your turn at first base, you see the outfielder leap to the top of the fence and make an unbelievable catch, and your heart sinks and you realize that you have lost forever the chance to score and win the championship.

The cheers quiet down to a rumble, and the crowd files out of the stadium. You wish you could turn back the clock so you could have another chance to score and change the outcome! But of course that’s impossible. So with an aching feeling inside, you take a deep breath and come to grips with reality: You have been defeated.

Sometimes making a mistake in life feels so final, and you too feel as if you have been defeated. Especially when you make a serious mistake. You think, “I’ve missed it, and I won’t ever have any more chances to succeed. It’s all over for me.”

But the “game of life” is not like a game in which you only have one chance to win before it’s over. No, when you make a mistake in life, with God, you get another chance!

It is so great to live life knowing that you are never defeated. Even if you fall, there is someone there to pick you up. He is The God of Another Chance.

I love the 80s : taking a look at “Great Truths from a Great Decade!”

If you are lost and you look you will find me time after time.

I remember the first time I heard that song , those lyrics.. I wasn’t a believer, but those lyrics seemed to call out to something inside me and i found myself thinking about God. I didn’t even care about God or church or any of that stuff but listening to that song that I know had nothing to do with God, I found myself drawn to Him and something was screaming out to me that I was Alone.

If you’re lost you can look – and you will find me
Time after time

If you fall I will catch you – I’ll be waiting
Time after time.

Jesus was asked what is the most important commandment, Love God with all your Heart, Mind and Soul and the Second is like it…”love you neighbor as yourself”

What a great idea. Someone who is there to catch you when you fall, someone to come and find you when you are lost.

Love God / Love Others

Loving God and Loving Others…Sounds so simple right? But how many days have you actually done that….??? I know I get asked, usually by Christians who have been in the game for a long time, when are we going to go DEEP… or they say I like the DEEP teachings….

My response has always been the same.. “When I can make it 24 hrs Loving God and Loving People” without missing a beat… i will move on to a Deeper Teaching…

But truth is… So many of you today, so many of us at different times in our lives have been Lost….Lost in a sea of worry, lost in a sea of pain, Lost in a sea despair….Just lost and Alone. And we were NOT FEELING THE LOVE.

In today’s sermon we are going to discuss the what it takes to Love God and Love Others.

Overcome the grip that inferiority, insecurity, and inadequacy have on your life. Be set free by understanding your christian freedom.

Dr. Clifton Black provides sound biblical teaching through his years of extensive study and knowledge of the word of God. This week we continue our intensive study of our christian freedom.

Today’s message will bring to a close this series concerning Christian Freedom. We have seen that Satan will bind us, and shackle us, with emotional feelings and attitudes, many of which we were programmed with from childhood, in order to keep us from becoming the person God wants us to be, and from achieving and accomplishing the things that God has set out to accomplish in our lives

We have talked about how our thinking becomes programmed by those around us, until we allow the feelings of rejection, the lack of love, resentment, and bitterness, whatever it might be, to dominate our lives. We have seen how our minds conceive our relationship to God because of what some preachers have taught, until we begin to think things on the basis of what we have heard, or what we have been taught, or what we have felt, instead of on the basis of the Word of God.

So what does Satan do? He takes a committed Christian and convinces that Christian of their insecurity, of their inferiority, and of their inadequacy.

Listen to this weeks message as again we will delve into God’s word to help put an end to our feelings of worthlessness and begin to walk in all of God’s promises.

I love the 80s : taking a look at “Great Truths from a Great Decade!”

Prayer.. It is an amazing thing. Ask 10 people about prayer and you will get 12 different answers. Great thing about prayer is even if you are not a believer you have prayed. “Lord let me pass this test” .. “Lord I really need a good parking place..Im late”. “Lord If you get me out of here I promise I will never ever do ________fill in the blank again.”

Prayer..We’ve all done it… But what is it really? what is prayer?

Prayer means so many things to so many people and honestly I think it is often misunderstood.

Some people believe that prayer is all about getting God to do what they want and as long as he answers every prayer with a resounding YES.

And if you want to build a big church and fill it up with people who nod at everything you say…then a pastor or preacher only has to stand up and tell you that if you quote the right verse or have enough or the right kind of Faith then you have the magic formula. All of them can quote large quantities of the Bible to back up this claim.. Unfortunately these portions are quoted grossly out of context.

You see as long as God is here to do my will then Prayer is all about me and my wants.

“The purpose of prayer is to surrender OUR will, NOT to impose it.”

So how do we PRAY? Is there a right way and a wrong way???

List this week as we discuss what it takes to have a real prayer life.

As we continue our study in this area of Christian Freedom, we have come to realize that the real reason that many Christians live in spiritual bondage, burdened down with fear and uncertainty, shackled with an attitude of unforgiveness and bitterness, is because they have never really understood who they are “in”Christ Jesus. You see, until we understand who we are in Christ Jesus, and until we can see ourselves as God our Father sees us, then we will always be subject to some type of spiritual bondage that Satan sends our way.

We have seen that if we are going to experience the Christian’s freedom, to be all that God has called us to be, and to achieve all that God has for us to achieve, we must “know the truth (which is the Word of God) and the truth shall make you free.” The truth of the matter is that we have many Christians today who are trying as hard as they can to live the Christian life, and it seems like the harder they try to live for Christ the worse it gets! The problem that most Christians have is that we are trying to do what some preacher says is right, or what some writer says in right, but the answer is right here in the Word of God, and that is the last place most of us look.

I love the 80s : taking a look at “Great Truths from a Great Decade!”

We are starting a brand new series called “I love the 80s”. Now in case you were wondering , I am a child of the 80’s. I loved the 80s, the music, the movies, the television shows.

Today’s message from I love the 80s is Man in the Mirror.

Now right up front , just because it says man doesn’t mean women are off the hook. When I use the term man i mean MANKIND.

Hold a mirror straight in front of you, arm’s length away, and what do you see? A reflection of yourself, of course. Now turn the mirror forty-five degrees to the left or forty-five degrees to the right, and what happens? Your reflection disappears from view and in its place what do you see? You see the reflection of the person standing nearest you.

But that is not the purpose of a mirror is it? Its not the best use of a mirror. A mirror is best used when looking intently at ourselves and making the needed corrections or just learning to look at be okay with what you see.

Learn what it takes to deal the Man in the Mirror.

This is the fourth message is the series called “Christian Freedom.” We are talking about God setting us free of the bondage that shackles us, imprisons us, keeps us from becoming everything that God wants us to be, and accomplishing those things that God would have us to accomplish.

And all of us know that deliberate, known, sin will put us in bondage. So we
know how to deal with that through confession and repentance. But there are some other forms of bondage that we are looking at, and asking God to show us how we can be free. For example, the sense of insecurity that plagues so many people. The feeling of inferiority. The attitude of inadequacy. A sense of worthlessness, or not really belonging.

And so, we are looking into the Word of God to see how God gives us freedom from the area of bondage that plagues our lives and keeps us from having the peace and joy of the Christian life.

Today we are going to center our attention around three great truths. We have seen the first one, and that is our position “in” Christ. We have seen that when we we are saved, our position in Christ is unchanging and eternal. Therefore, we can have a true sense of security “in” Christ.

Dispelling popular christian myths that believers tell as gospel truth

This week we are wrapping up our series, Mythbusters. We have been taking a look at some of the lies and myths , the things we believe about God and how these myths and lies can trip us up and keep us from having the kind of relationship with our Creator that he desires… If you believe a lie about God and his love for you it will impact how you live and how you love. So it is in our best interest to put these lies to rest.

This week our third and final week I want to tackle a particularly damaging Myth. This myth puts us at odds with God and sets us up for defeat.

Our final myth is “God is disappointed in me.”

How many of you have ever heard the phrase , “I am not mad I am just Disappointed in you”. Maybe you heard it from a parent or you said it yourself, It’s a pretty common phrase and disappointment is a very common feeling. Let’s be honest, we all feel disappointment at some time in our life and we all have things that don’t go as planned.

We need to understand the truth and realize that God is not disappointed with you or me.
